PAIRS FORMAT
In an effort to allow greater participation from different levels of orienteers there will be different formats between the Short and Long Pairs competitions.
• As the name suggests this event is contested by teams of two people.
• Other combinations can enter but will be classed as unofficial.
• All controls need to be visited in order.
Some courses may contain loops with a pivot control that needs to be punched each visit.
The event will commence with a mass start for first leg runners.
• Returning runners will firstly tag their partner then punch the finish after which they download.
• Tagged runners will need to pickup the correct map and then punch the start.
• Do not discuss or show the course to any other teams.

SHORT PAIRS
• There will be two different Short Pairs legs.
• One leg will be 2.1 km and be Easy standard. (SP-Easy)
• One leg will be 2.5 km and be Moderate standard. (SP-Mod)
• Team members will run only one of these legs.
• Teams need to nominate which member runs which leg prior to the event.
• The winners will be the team having completed both legs in the fastest combined time.

LONG PAIRS
• There will be two different Long Pairs legs.
• One leg will be 2.5 km and be Moderate standard. (LP-1)
• One leg will be 2.3 km and be Moderate standard. (LP-2)
• Note: There will be a couple of easy controls to avoid thicker vegetation.
• Each team member will run a total of 4.5 km but with a break between their two runs.
Team members will run two alternate legs each. Running order is Member1-Member2-Member1-Member2.
The maps will be printed front and back with the two different legs.
• Second leg runners can choose which leg they run first.
• Competitors will need to clear and check after downloading their first run.
• You can retain the map after your first run and pre-plan your second run route.
• Do not discuss or show the course to any other teams
• The winners will be the team having completed all 4 legs in the fastest time.

TEAM RUNNING ORDER
Alternate running course order will be allocated to teams. Please advise if for any reason you need to run in a specific order e.g. first leg to allow shadowing of sub juniors after your run.

PRE-ENTRY: We prefer you to pre-enter so we can ensure map availability especially pairs teams.

CONTROL DESCRIPTIONS: Printed on the maps with seperate printable versions available for download via Eventor a few days prior.

SPORTIDENT STICKS: Both team members require an SI stick. Use “Services” in Eventor to borrow if you don’t own one.

SETTERS NOTES
Mostly mildly undulating spur gully. The track network is quite complex, enough so to be confusing in some areas. Be careful at junctions. There may be some newer unmapped tracks but these are likely outside the area you will visit. The forest has some fast running sections and the vegetation is mostly as mapped although clearings may have long grass covering them. Long leg coverings or tights are advised but courses have been set to avoid the thickest areas with track options through it. Green crosses represent tree root mounds. Brown triangles are termite mounds, all of which are small. No dimensions have been provided on control descriptions. Due to the need to secure SI units some are up to two metres from the feature but readily visible if you are at that feature.

SAFETY: Motorcycles and 4WD vehicles may be present on tracks. There are some deep erosion ruts on some tracks and powerline clearings. These can be difficult to cross and slippery if there has been rain prior to the event. Sadly there is rubbish that may contain sharp items dumped in several locations.

DRINKING WATER: Please supply drinking water to cover your personal needs both on and off course.

PRESENTATIONS: Presentations will be held as soon as the majority of Pairs teams have finished.

RESTRICTIONS: In accordance with ONSW regulations, Dogs, smoking and fires are prohibited from ALL parking, assembly and competition areas.

ENTRY FEES: Senior $16; Junior $11; Sub-Junior $9; SI rental included.
