DuO at Belanglo

Thanks to everyone who came along to enjoy a beautiful day in the bush. I hope a few of you saw the big mob of emus near the cleared pine plantation - plenty of youngsters were in the mob, so maybe we'll be seeing a few more about.

Congratulations to the winners, Twisted Greg Barbour, the Bitte Andrew Power and the tasty Peter Newton.

Thanks to everyone who helped, particulary our friends from Newcastle who ran the BBQ and managed the infrastructure. The format is very complex and the day is very long for organisers, hopefully we papered over the cracks OK. Apologies for those who missed 231 - we re-instated everyone who was DNF'd for not punching to it when we realised we had forgotten to decorate it with a control flag. A big hand to the organiser, Michael Roylance and to the planner Mary Fien. HAppily we didn't crack open the first aid kit - there's nothing much in it for cramps anyway.

Greg had a massive win, with the technical orienteering suiting his skill-set giving him a 30 minute win over Newcastle's Andrew Haigh, whilst a very pumped Marina Ishhakova beat her husband into the finish by just long enough to gather her breath and launch into a traditional Russian motivational yodel as Fedor finished.

Andrew Power held off Kiwi orienteer Lizzie Ingham by 10 minutes with a combination of stronger cycling and a lucky break as Liz came a bit undone on one of the Miner's Despair controls, but generally flogged all comers elsewhere in the foot-O.

Peter Newton had the narrowest DuO win, beating Rob Spry by 6 minutes in the Taster, just drawing away as the course went on.

The Mackie family won the MTBO from an array of the old, injured and otherwise reluctant to do that foot orienteering malarky.
