World Rogaining Champs - this is a water drop

Congratulations to all the Big Feet who completed the World Rogaining Champs outside of Alice last weekend. It sounds to have been a most epic and enjoyable event.

For those organisers who complain about having to put water out on the course, Tony Bond files this report:

World MTBO - Calling Bronwyn Bishop !!

The Australian team in Portugal (packed with Big Feet) has hit a budgetary crisis after blowing 150 euro on a single meal - either chips and coke costs a lot in Portugal, or it was the suckling pig.

Eoin clings on to podium after double debacle

The two most technical days of O'France 2016 put the sword to Eoin Rothery's title ambitions as he lost 29 minutes on day 4 and his SI stick on day 5 (the chasing start statge).

The second set of areas were always going to be more challenging and the switch from 1:5000 to 1:7500 maps bought a lot of unnecessary pain. Many good orienteers blew out on day 4 and most of the Big Feet were amongst them.

Metro League #4 - Darks Common

Thanks to everybody for coming and some who didn't, particularly Miles Ellis who stepped up at the last moment to plan the courses. The only lost property was a black beanie. A great contrast between the burnt and the unburnt.

All the results you could want to poke a stick at:

Tracy wins as boys come nowhere in ANZAC bake-off

Tracy Marsh took out the ANZAC day ANZAC cookie baking competition with Paula Shingler 2nd and Rebecca George 3rd.

The failure of the Big Foot males to get a place on the podium was disappointing but they have resolved to do better next year.

For the record, here is the whole field pre-judging, along with the new holder of the perpetual wooden spoon of victory:

Flying Fergus and Leadfoot Lucy picked for Portugal JWOC

Flying Fergus

Yay !

Big Foot's Lucy and Fergus Mackie have been picked to represent Australia at the World MTBO champs in Portugal in July following on from their performances in recent selection races in Beechhworth when they were riding their first MTBO champs since transferring from Mountain Devils. Lucy picked up a cloth badge at the Easter 3 Days in foot orienteering, but both siblings are more experienced on a bike.

Both will be racing in the junior section of the individuals, with Hamish riding in the senior relay team. Congratulations to both of them.

Look at Tony Hill's great photos - if you didn't camp, see what you missed out on. Action photos for the second day are in there too.
