Beware the Mindfields

The NSW middle distance champs visited an area rarely orienteered on by non-Novacastrians, the minefields of Bluegum Regional Park and adjacent mining rehabillitation area.

The addition of new symbols like "subsidence crack" along with Denis Lyons usual detailed mapping provided a mental challenge.

Oliver Freeman (M/W10N), Vanessa Freeman (W40AS),  Callum Davis (M-14A), Mike Burton (M50) and Patrick Gunnarsson (M35) rose to the occasion and won their classes whilst the rest of the club fared less well, although a fair number of badges were collected. The Shingler family collected four (4) 3rd place badges for their efforts.

Distinguished mentions to Asta (best sleep in car before start) and Miles (best sleep in car after event).

Jock Davis dug out his repair kit (see picture) and along with Greg Barbour was Big Foot's only representative in the open classes with a top 5 finish in M21A, dodging the tough competition in M45.
