Fire season meets orienteering areas

With large fire very close to Bennelong's Wattle Ridge map, it looked as though it was a shoe-in for the first O-map to be burnt in what looks like being a very hot NSW fire season.

Not so - Lane Cove, apparently home of one of the most persistant fire-bugs in the metropolis, had two fires last weekend, on in Batten Creek Reserve (Garingal map ?) and one on Big Foot's own Butchers Block map. The Butchers Block fire was spotted quickly and there was a fire engine nearby whose crew had it in hand very quickly, so only a small area was burnt, but burnt well (see picture).
